Looks amazing!

Quick question, I have been eyeing building the Yamato and to my knowledge the re-tooled Tamiya kits seem to be favored by most modelers.
But Tamiya offers two versions of the kit, 78025 w/PE and the 78030 without PE. The only other difference to my knowledge is the 78025 has a hull that can be built as either a full hull or waterline.
Are there any other differences?

My intention is to also buy the Pontos sets, which I believe include all of the PE that the 78025 offered.
Would I be missing anything if I purchased the 78030 kit?

78030 is the old tool kit!

I suggest going with the 78025 new tool kit as it's light years better, it is expensive though. Also take care what PE from Pontos you'll get as they have many sets for both.

More progress. I am assembling much of the Pontos add-ons. The secondary turrets are plated with Lion Roar sheets. The barrels and blast bags are Pontos.

Thank you Martin and Gewoon! Progress is steady at 10 hours a week. I only photograph when I have enough done. The paravanes were a pain and took about a week. Thanks again.

I have the same one, it's called: Battleships Yamato and Musashi - Anatomy of the ship

On eBay search Yamato Musashi Anatomy. I see one for $50.

Awesome work, Joe!! It is coming along beautifully! I don't know how you guys who build 1:350 boats do it. I have enough trouble with 1:200. I'd go blind, not to mention start raving mad, if it were any smaller.

It looks that despite the fact it is a 'new tool' version, there are still many mistakes and parts needing correction...

I have the early version of the model and it is much worse. I am honestly thinking about buying the 'new tool' version. What is Your advice?
