1/700 Most wanted new plastic kit

Tamiya already produces the King George V class, in both stages, and all four of the class.

Actually, there were 5 KGV class battleships. Tamiya produce late war KGV and PoW as lost. They have not kitted DoY, Howe or Anson. DoY and Howe are easy enoguh to convert from the two Tamiya kits. Only difficulty with Anson is the different pattern of HACS.

I voted for the Modernized Essex class, but what I'd REALLY love to see is: RMS Queen Mary and/or Queen Elizabeth, the ginormous ocean liners, in their gray-painted and loaded-with-antiaircraft-guns WW2 configuration as troopships

I vote for the USS Wasp. I have most classes of WWII carriers (Yorktown, Essex, Saratoga, Borgue) but I need the Wasp and a CVL.

Academy made a mistake in not making the Titanic waterline.

While it would be really great to have a 1/700 Forrestal class CV, in as commissioned and as updated configurations, the carriers I'd most like to see in 1/700 is the Midway class, both in commissioned and SLEP configuration. Maybe as commissioned, 1957 and then Gulf War period.

Right behind that one is a 1/700 USS John F. Kennedy.

It really eludes me as to how every other modern US carrier is done in umpteen configurations except those two. Why?!

I can imagine, the problem with Midway class is, that the three carriers developed quite different (how their "look"). Nevertheless I'd love to see a Gulf-war-era Midway.

On JFK, I completely agree. I read a book - long time ago - the author told, JFK was kind of first design of the Nimitz layout and (he suggested) could be a "cheap" alternative to the nuclear carriers (Terzibaschitsch was the author). My favourite vote was on the Essex-Class carriers in their last layout, but - I did not think about JFK - this def. would be _the_ second choice.

I think the idea of ocean liners is great too. Certainly the two Queens could be used in pre-war, war and post-war layouts; I also have to think about Normandy and Ile de France and certainly about Bremen and Europa.

I agree. I like the liners and have several. They're not 1/700 scale (1/600), but I've got the Airfix kits of France, QE1 and QE2 and they are pretty nice. The Revell QM2 in 1/700 is pretty nice as well. I also have the old Revell Queen Mary which isn't half bad. 1/570 I think. The old Revell SS United States kit is okay except that it is some sort of cross between waterline and full hull format.

All we have in plastic is the Arizona class.

I would love the see the Battleship USS Michigan. But then I live here!

I noticed only one IJN vessel on the list, and that just another one of the similar destroyer classes.
Why not produce some vessel classes that have NEVER been seen, such as some of the highly unusual IJN auxiliaries or conversions ? ..... Such as:

Shinsu or Settsu Maru ... Daihatsu landing craft carriers
Akitsu or Kumano Maru ...Hybrid Aircraft / Daihatsu Carriers
Sunosaki or Ashizuri .....Fleet replenishment vessels

And for that matter...What about a 1/700 USN WWII LSD ?

Why not some Spanish American war combatants (both sides)

how about a wickes or clemson class 4 piper or instead of another Graf Spee how about an exeter or ajax or achilles. alaska/guam would be nice but so would a von der tann. please do not do what everyone else has done but do something new

I get fed up of the same kits done again and again, another German Z class destroyer, another Fletcher, another spitfire another 109. I know it's because these are the same dreary kits that sell to the masses but why can't they play it smart. Stop doing the single class kits Hood etc for a while. Do the multi classes with chance for conversions. Make a standard kit of HMS Hermes 1982, the biggest seller. Then with alterations it can be the Indian carrier Viriaat, with different parts it can be the 1960's version, or HMS Centaur with option of axial deck or 1960's version with Sea Vixen, HMS Bulwark or HMS Albion, Suez or assault ship versions.

How about a Colossus/Majestic class, only small differences and you have British, French, Canadian, Australian, Brazillian, Argentinian, Netherlands and an Indian carrier

Carriers are my one of my interests, but this logic applies to Cruisers, Battleships, Auxillaries etc

I leave you this thought, maybe the lack of choice is what is killing this hobby with new people. You can't buy a different kit if manufacturers don't make it.
