Not as bad as your warren of officers quarters on your 1:200 Hornet, complete with desks? It has occurred to me that one could be really obsessive and complete a ship with all it's internal compartmentation, machinery etc. I remember at the PSNS shipyard museum many decades ago they had a clear plexiglass model of an Essex Carrier, with all the compartmentation. Maybe do a half model?

All very nice!

For the Hornet, it is soft masochism... The flight deck can be removed.

After for the Delphine in 1/100, if you lean a little ( For the rivets counter ), you can see very well the underside of the forecastle. That's why I did this. :cool_2:

I was not totally satisfied with the way I printed the rib, the supports were not easy to cut without damaging some elements. And the paint would not have been easy to apply.

I split this rib in 11 pieces, the cushions are usually of a different color than the seat block etc..

This is much better.

Progress on the painting.

I'll have to furnish the dining room because the portholes are very large and you can see in.

So tables and chairs, curtains, will be welcome.

Nothing is glued of course. The windshield of the boat is no more, I'm waiting for a friend's info for a more transparent resin...

Quite the dining room, up there with mini Titanic fitting out. I wonder if in the days of her fitting out as a "warship" all of this had been stripped out? The apparent distortion of wide angle interior photography makes the compartment appear much larger than the view of the 3D construction. An advantage of larger scales is the ability to more faithfully replicate such detail.

It seems that the windshield of the runabout was curved in only two dimensions, so you should be able to cut a template from the printed one and then cut it from thin transparent foil.

The work is as always :thumbs_up_1:

It's a solution.

I'm going to wait for my friend to come back from vacation so that he can tell me the brand of his resin.
After testing I will decide.

His nice job.

The one on the left is definitely not a politician, far too transparent! Those of us in the 'peanut gallery" will look forward to seeing what develops. A good transparent resin would be useful for many things. For my current project I turned the porthole glass from rod on my lathe, it would have been an OK solution had I had a better method of truly polishing the ends.

I like the scratch building forum the best as many active builders contribute useful technique.

Tom, polishing (real) acrylic rod on the lathe is actually very simple. You can use these finegrained, green silicone-rubber bound wheels for that. You get a glass-like finish.

Apologies to Iceman 29 for sidetracking ...

Thanks! Unfortunately those aren't available here in the sub Arctic, so I made do with 2000 grit paper and then jweler's rouge and a cotton buffing wheel. If I do some more of these I'll try your system.

Tks Bigtodd!

Bernard gave me his solution from his vacation spot:

"You should already try to varnish your windshield with a colorless gloss varnish of some kind.
I found in my travel disk these pictures that show (badly) the difference before and after.

Your windshield doesn't look much more opaque than my lantern glass.
The guy I posted above was also like that before.

I use classic wood gloss varnish. One coat on each side.
The result is amazing."
