I made the base to fit in the top shelf of my TV entertainment center and I even have a plexiglass case already made for it and it fits tightly into the groove that I routered around the perimeter.

If there was such a thing as a Seaplane/PT Boat Tender - Tender, I'd make one and put it alongside the PT Boat Tender while it was tending to PT Boats.

A Destroyer Tender or Repair Ship would work, but I don't know if such of a scenario ever happened with my USS Oyster Bay. Maybe even a couple of DEs alongside the AD or AR. I think that I would then have to call the diorama "A Tender Moment".


I guess I'll stick to the pictures of her, that I've seen. And stick with the Leyte Gulf theme.

I might go so far as to suggest perhaps a replenishment ship - it would make sense in the term of long operations to have such a ship come out to restock the Tender's supplies of equipment. Just a thought there.

Thanks for the idea. It had actually crossed my mind at one time but, while at anchor in San Pedro Bay at Leyte Gulf, the ships were anchored farther from any shore, than such a diorama would depict.

If I did that, then I'd have to make the dio even larger and that wouldn't solve the problem, would it.

I can't wait to see the finished dio, either. (Besides the vision in my dreams, that is.) Wake me up when its done, will you?

A "Must Have" for my 1/700 Post War One of Each Class collection.

I have taken a break from my 1/350 PT Boat Tender dio and I've dug into the new JAG USS Belknap class CG kit. I intend to build the USS Josephus Daniels CG-27 in the early 1990's fit.

This kit will definately be a test of my accumulated skills. The instructions indicate that this is "not for beginners". I have spent one entire day just building the aft MACK.





I hope that I can do this kit justice.

I'd like to see how long it takes Peter Van Buren to finish this kit. I'm a big fan of Mr. Van Buren's work! Hurry up, Peter! I need more references to learn by!

I have finally taken the next step in water base methods.

Especially love the side shots.

One thing with the water (a problem I also have to deal with): some of the wavelets don't mesh so well with the overall scene, and I haven't figured out how to solve that for my own scenes!
