russclark wrote:thanks dave,i have already made all the ships boats, then i found out she never carried all of them,by what i can figure out see carried about half of what most models show.in the configuration i am showing her she had extra 20 mm guns in place of some of the boats.as for paint i use spray cans and brushable ,tamiya, model master, testers,i have a air brush but don't know how to use it,i am going to have to learn, i think it would make life easier.the camo on the upper works was done by putting it all together loose then drawing a pencil line trying to line up the hull with the guns, deck and every thing.then taking it apart and masking then painting future on to stop bleeding,it works not to bad."this tip i picked up on this forum".no more camo for me.Dave the way you work on your models i am sure you would have no trouble doing camo,as always your work is exellent ,gives most of us something to shoot for.
Thanks for that Russ. Will you be considering placing the model in either a box, glass or acrylic case to protect against dust? .

yes dave i will,i build my own cases from plaxi glass and shelving. i finally figured out my camera it will take message board sized pics,no more resizing and fooling around heres a couple with the new format.let me know if they are better.

thanks dave ,the white board under the model is the base of the case, my cases are pretty basic but they do a good job of keeping dust and hands off.i will post a pic when it is built.
i had the glass company cut the acrlic for me.i glued it together myself.picked it up this morning,it took about 2 hrs to glue it together with #16 weld on acylic solvent cement.,case fits into sliding door runners that are glued onto the base, which is a piece of shelving 91/2 in. wide and 52 in. long.oh" buy the way the acylic is 1/4 in. first ones where 1/8 in. but where a little flimsy. this one is a little heavier.
i was keeping track of costs at one time but it got forgotten about,i will try to keep a log on my next build, the case $130 ,barrels, and small amount of photo etch $75,books and plans$200.supplies$ 500.plus time.i realy do not know the correct amount. if you add hours even at $5 an hour it comes out to alot.
