Calling all USS Enterprise CV-6 fans

I don't have paper documentation of the change. I think they were changed during her 1943 Puget Sound Naval Shipyard overhaul at Bremerton, Wa.. The picture on the home page http://www.cv6.org/default.htm is dated July, 1944 and it looks like the cats are angled in.

I had been leaning towards a late-war Enterprise with the extensive AA fit but
don't want to have to extensively modify the flight deck.

Is there a wartime period when Enterprise's catapults were parallel?

Trumpy's Hornet kit has catapults and they are parallel with the centerline.
You can see here that Big E's catapults aren't parallel. I fear that modifying
the kit's flight deck to achieve the proper catapult layout would spoil the
detail of the kit's deck.

Steve, Enterprise originally had two H-2 catapults which were rated for 7000 lb. aircraft. These were per the original design, and CV5 and CV8 had the same setup. The H-2's on CV6 were replaced with H-2-1 catapults rated for 11,000 lb aircraft during her 10/43 refit. These cats were a bit longer, and necessitated angling a bit so the holdback tracks could bracket either side of the forward elevator well. Also angling gave a bit more deck room for wider landing gear aircraft than the CV5/6 deck design allowed. CV8's forward flight deck was modified, in part, to help remedy this, as well as allow a safer rolling takeoff, which was far more normal than cat shots.

Mike, thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to know.

I'm actually now more inclined to attempt a post 10/43 refit conversion from Trumpy's Hornet. Not sure yet. If anyone has some detailed information on the hull blisters please pass it along. That'll be the other big factor. I truly like the late-war AA fit. Bofors rock.

I'll need to finish Yorktown first before I start on Big E.

No B charactor and the tail line is also inaccuracy。

It is a stunning model, but I was a bit let down by the colors (or lack thereof) the builders used. I'm hoping it is just the photographic limitations and /or lighting, but there seems to be a definite aversion to the fact that the ship was a fairly dark blue-gray with dark blue decks. I know they were trying for a weathered look, but geez. Pure neutral gray tones. Anti-blue syndrome: it is closely related to brown flight deck syndrome! At least they didn't make the deck tan, as some do. But for detail... I'll be studying those shots for a while!

I thought at first it was due to lighting, etc. But John Snyder (John@WEM) says that when he saw the model without the case, it was gray. Too bad. It is, even with this error, a superb model in every other way.

Nice work there, Jack. One minor point: I've seen no evidence that tractors were in use aboard ENTERPRISE prior to her return to the Hawaiian area in April (?) of 1943. Other than that, I believe that you've produced an excellent representation of the ship. Congratulations!
