Here's my list:
1.Graf Zeppelin carrier with parts for both varients.

2. K class cruisers and/or KM Leipzig or KM Emden

3. Schleswig-Holstein. Wouls appeal to WW I and WW II modellers and would be fun to detailup. Plus a historically significant ship.

4. Geman auxilliary cruisers such as Atlantis or Komet with its little Meteorit.

5. More smaller units such as destroyers, torpedo boats and mine sweepers

Totally off topic. I think it would be cool to do some 1/350 scale airships. They would complement surface ships and were used by RN, USN and SM. A couple RN airships, a Macon and Shanandoa, a couple WW I Zeps and a Graf Zeppelin and Hindinberg would display nicely with WW I and interwar years battleships. Molds would be large but very simple kits. I think it would be an impressive display: subs, surface fleet, airships.

I would think that kit/mold economics, as well as ship history, would have to play a role in the choice. With that in mind:

1) Brooklyn/St. Louis class Cl
2) Northhamptom class CA
3) Colussus/Majestic class CV
4) County class CA
5) Big 5 BB- pre/early war cage mast versions.

Phew! Another good survey! But that's easy for me...
-Pensacola class cruiser
-Tennessee or Colorado class battleship
-USS Enterprise CV-6
-Atlanta class cruiser
-Cleveland or Brooklyn class cruiser

And, yes, I would buy any of the ones posted above!
Current builds:
Hobby Boss 1/700 Type VIIC U-Boat for my AH

Just to note that the Illustrious class (Illustrious, Victorious and Formidable - let's leave Indomitable out of it at the moment) can have a nice choice of fits and naturally make at least 4 kits.

Illustrious - Taranto and a "different kit" as a BPF carrier (she had adjustments to her round-down and extreme forward flight-deck as well as extra light AA)

Victorious - As at Bismarck Episode and when on loan to the Pacific in 1943

Formidable - Possibly as a BPF carrier with enlarged light AA

With a bit of careful design the 4 kits should really be able to cover most wartime options.

1. Ark Royal (1941)
2. Victorious (WWII fit)
3. Andrea Doria BB (WWII fit)
4. HMS Sheffield (or any Town or Colony Class cruiser) (WWII fit)
5. Square Bridge Clevland Class (WWII fit)

Nos. 1,3, and 4 have the advantage of not being represented in 1/700 plastic, so it should be relatively easy to double the payback on the reserach investment.

Top 5 (6!) 1/350 scale injection molded wish list:

1. DD371 USS Conyingham, Mahan class destroyer

2. DD354 USS Monaghan, Farragut class destroyer

3. DD382 USS Craven, Gridley class destroyer

4. DD392 USS Patterson, Bagley class destroyer

5. DD407 USS Sterett, Benham class destroyer

6. DD411 USS Anderson, Sims class destroyer

There weren't just Fletchers out there during WW2. Dragon has done a fantastic job of presenting the Gleaves class and Gearing class destroyers. I truly hope the other classes of destroyers that were seen in such numbers during the war, are soon presented in 350 scale plastic.

My votes in no particular order:

1. Any US oiler from WW2. Cimarron class oiler USS Cimarron (AO-22) four ships of this class were converted to Sangamon class escort carrier USS Sangamon CVE-26 so a useful multiple tooling? Suamico class USS Suamico (AO-49), Kennebec class USS Kennebec (AO-36) All these classes of ships went into commercial use post war which also broadens the appeal and potential market.

2. Sacremento Class USS Sacramento (AOE-1)

3. AFDB-1 Class Large Auxiliary (10-section, non-self-propelled) Floating Dry Dock

4. Navajo Class Fleet Ocean Tug ATF-66 USS Cherokee

5. Leander class cruisers (circa 1931)

Dragon should be commended for tackling the neglected subjects so comprehensively listed here by others, but I think Dragon is barking up the wrong scale tree with 1/350. I think Dragon needs to steal first base with authority and look seriously at 1/500 scale in favour of dropping the multiple tooling approach of 1/350 and 1/700. If Dragon carpet bombed 1/500 scale with multiple releases and cherry picked 1/500 scale before their competitors woke up to it, combined with Dragon's emphasis on accuracy and quality they would become a market leader in the scale and in sales. Sorry for going off topic Rob. I'll take my punishment now please.

1. SMS Scharnhorst, or Gneisenau, as you can get two kits from one mold. I have drawings for this.

2. USS Texas BB-35 in her 1944-45 configuration. I have drawings for this.

3. USS Indianapolis CA-35, in her as sunk configuration, or Portland CA-33 in 1944. I have drawings for this.

4. USS Alaska CB-1, or Guam CB-2. I have drawings for this.

5. USS Nevada BB-36, or Oklahoma BB-37, as at Pearl Harbor. I have drawings for this.

What's it gonna be Rob?

My picks would be:

1. Dido class cruiser
2. HMS Ark Royal 1941
3. HMS Jamaica (present at Battle of Barents sea and North Cape and plenty of scope for other ships of the Colony class, all those excellent camouflage schemes)
4. Corvette (as an entry level kit and with lots of variations for various nationalities)
5. RN emergency flotilla destroyer (on the J class hull, dozens of variations possible)

Although I reckon US subjects are more likely to get the nod
