Question about the WEM PE net support (Koenig) :

i have to build it in my GK (ICM) but dont know how to :

first pre-building net support and small brackets together, then glue it in the hull ?

glue the brackets on the hull, then glue the support on the brackets (already glued in the hull) ?

From my experience I'd recommend to you to glue on the net shelf in suitable sections to the hull and then add the supprot struts to the shelf. As a rule of the thumb: Build from big to small. It is easier to adjust smaller parts onto bigger parts than vice versa.

I made it to Mikasa, and here are some photos. As you can see the funnel stays are connected directly to the inside of the elevated deck structure.

I have several more of other parts of the ship. Let me know if you need any more.

I knew most went to the inside edge of the boat decks, but these show the anchor points with real clarity... perfect...

Jim... I know I have been off the radar a little. Been in Germany most of last week and then meetings all this week... setting up and starting my new company has taken most of my time recently... and trying to deal with various accountancy packages is proving to be a nightmare... They all have advantages and disadvantages and the easiest and most commonly used isn't Mac compatible... nor does it import your business bank account details and keep track of expenditure, VAT etc automatically.. it all manual updates. And the good one that IS Mac compatible is only on line and stored on a remote server. I understand why... its secure (ish) and you won't lose all your accountancy data... but bloody hell.. in these days of Raid backups and the fact that most airports or hotels still charge for wireless connection... assuming its useable... surely an offline package actually ON your laptop is more useable and faster... Updating to a server should be done once all the data is inputted... not during...

Rubbish... sometimes you wonder if it is really 2012!

Back to modelling.

Rebuilt my office/workshop... just some tidying up to do then I can start again.

No they didn't Bill. While anchor points and tighteners for stays probably looked very similar to those in the photos, anchor points for funnel's stays weren't located where they are today. Remember that Mikasa was not restored to how she appeared during Russo-Japanese War.

I knew it wasn't restored to that period... but I thought maybe the funnels stays had remained much the same.... I'll have to have a look at similar ships from the RN as well as any more I can find of Mikasa... I don't suppose you have anything suitable Darius...? I know this is more your period than mine, and you have been an incredible source of information for years...

Yes... normal summer stall (although I have spells at ANY time of year when I just get distracted and take time to get back).

I see JB is in the same boat as well... so we are in good company.

Olympics, the weather, it was 32 C yesterday (91F) plus a new business which I started a couple of months ago, plus ups and downs with the GF... its been a busy couple of months.

I even bought an HMS Astute in 350 to do a quick build and get me back into modelling and even that stalled!!!

Thanks for asking though... I WILL get back to it...
