Calling all USS Barnegat-class seaplane tender (AVP) fans

What looks to be a search light is actually a big loud speaker (6MC) used to communicate during evolutions conducted on the aft part of the ship.

What's the best type / brand of paints to use on 1/350 USN sailors? I see about 70 swinging #%@*$!s on deck in this photo.

(Looks like they're doing an All Back Emergency on both shafts to avoid ramming the plane. Which they did anyway.)

I'm waiting for some 5" Open Mount guns, some 20mm guns, depth charge racks and some cable reels from FreeTime Hobbies.

Is the ship's bell too, over-the-top?

Completed the stays on the foremast and stack on the USS San Pablo.

The rigging is done and the port side davits and whale boat are installed and rigged for sea as well as details atop the pilot house. The starboard side's davits will be empty since that whale boat had been dispatched to the aircraft in distress.

I'm still waiting for the 5" open mount guns, 20mm guns and depth charges to arrive from FreeTime Hobbies. The package is lost somewhere between UPS and USPS, apparently.

Almost done with the ship model. 8 x 20mm guns and jack and ensign staffs are left. I've got to lash down those boats, too.

I have always dreaded having to construct the support for this gun director tower from brass stock. I worked hard to make resin parts in order to make assembling these towers a whole lot easier in the future.

About ready for some primer. I gave the whole thing a bath in Bleche-Wite with a rinse and blow dry.

I used a rather thick set of PE railings from Tom's Modelworks (#5301). I didn't realize it until I had a lot of it already glued on. I'll have to carry through with this PE on the other two ships in the diorama. I have about 4 sets of it and it's nice PE, but thicker than what I had been using in the past.

I create canvas-covered railings using Kristal Klear brushed / spread between the rails. Easier to do with three-bar rails than with two-bar rails.
