Anyone know where to find 20MM single guns on the tripod mounts in 1/96 scale.

Also looking for 40MM Bofors quads in 1/96. I know of JR Haynes ones but they are pricy and Ive heard they are not that good. Also HR products has them much cheaper but I cant seem to find any pictures to look at. Anyone who has used any of these I would like to know how they worked out for you.

Both ARH and Bill Waldorf have used the two companies' products in their builds and have commented on them - check out their build threads in the Completed Models (Fully Documented) section.

Trey,

I have to agree with Timmy--ARH's USS MOFFETT build is still referenced by myself when it comes to his use (and construction) of 1/72 fittings. He and Bill Waldorf are real craftsmen, and I continue to learn more about scratch building every time I read one of their builds.

Since I don't work in 1/96, but rather 1/72 I can't comment on the 1/96 fittings specifically, but for my HMCS ANNAPOLIS build I have several of John R Haynes single Oerlikon kits, and while they are somewhat more expensive than HR's they are absolutely the best white metal Oerlikons I've seen. The fidelity rivals resin products like White Ensign's without the risk of warped or broken barrels. I can't recommend John's fittings highly enough.

I also have the 1/72 scale quad Bofors from HR Products, and it is quite good too--some flash, and no instructions (hence why I refer to the MOFFETT build), and in this case I have a short-shot flash hider on the barrel, but I'm replacing those on all four barrels anyway. I order my HR fittings from Loyal Hannah, and it does take some time for them to arrive, but the price is right :)

Anyway, I hope this helps--but of course, IMHO, take with a grain of salt etc.

Cheers,

Sean
