A while back I was given the nautilus wood deck for my Hornet 1/350 kit which I already started painting in acrylic. Color matching in enamel was an issue. I asked if there were any suggestions on how to prevent it warping with acrylics. The basic answer I received was "don't use them".
I found a solution.
Using thin and flat strips of brass that I cut with a pair of tin snips I glued the in several places to the underside of the deck using loctite's go2 glue. It has the strength of CA but the plyablity of rubber cement. It is listed as shock resistant. I used this to avoid heat/cooling expansion and contraction differences between the brass and wood.
The deck had already warped when I tried to use shellac to seal it specifically so it would not warp. The brass corrected the warp. When I painted the deck using my acrylics it remained flat.
Hope this helps someone!
