May get flamed abit (built kit as supplied) but wanted your guys input. I finished this model a few years ago. Just getting back into modelling since i have abit more free time.

I realize know the kit isn't accurate and my colours may have been off.

Any criticism would be great as I starting HMS POW and HMS Repulse in 1/350 also.

I like it.

One thing I do is use a toothpick to "patchup" certain marks on the hull left after masking, where some paint runs. A little paint applied with a toothpick and that hull line is smooth again

Another thing you can do with wavy line paint schemes is draw the pattern on in pencil. Depending on the paint it will run up to but not over a pencil line. It takes a bit of practice but you can make really sharp lines without masking if you get it right.

As for colour matching you should try to find some paint chip scans or some good colour drawings of the scheme. If nothing else pick someone else's model you think looks nice and print a picture. Take the printed patches/drawings/model shots to your hobby shop when you buy paint. A lot of the time I find this matching "by eye" is good enough. Also spend some time painting test patches on some scrap to see how the colours really look and more importantly how they look side by side. Ultimately it's you that needs to be happy with how the scheme looks as a whole.

The last thing is find pictures. It's not always easy to find good pictures but the fact is the more time you spend staring at the real thing the better you will know how to make your model.
