Trumpeter 1/200 Arizona length

Hey all. I was looking at some subject(s) for future builds and went down the Pennsylvania/Nevada class conversions path. I couldn't find a discussion after a quick search, but I discovered that the Trumpeter 1/200 Arizona is about 25 feet too short (LOA) from scale length --about 1.5 inches. This is no big deal if displayed by itself, so but looking at a conversion to a Nevada class she would build out closer to scale LOA....So what I see is no cutting required to shorten the hull for a Nevada class conversion. (Nevada LOA 583' vs Pennsylvania 608'). hmmmm

I find that the kit is right on the money. The LOA for BB-38/39 is (as you state) 608'-0" - divided by 200 that equals 36-1/2" - which is exactly what my hull measures at it's longest point. Somewhere there's a discrepancy....

Hank,
You are absolutely correct! I finally found the lower hull half. My model is water-lined and mounted. Apparently I measured too long...Hmm Strange that I measured it twice at the wrong length...
Now I'm glad the 'Zona is spot on but now It will be a hack job to do an Okie.

Ph-e-w-w-w :faint: I just knew I had mis-calc'd that dimension. Glad I was able to help.

These older battleships are beginning to grow on me!!! Kind of like Barnacles!!!

gotta tell ya... "Ignorance is bliss" when it comes to Trumpeter models. I had to stop measuring them against plans to make 'em fun again. :wave_1:

So, Jason -

Given everything we all now know re. the Trumpy IOWA kits, etc. how do the Trumpy RODNEY/NELSON kits compare? Accuracy-wise, that is?

Happy Pearl Harbor day to all! A time when we really did have something to beach about!

A couple guys from England told me it was spot on, shapewise... that's good enough for me. :joker:

Truthfully I just don't know for sure... there is a shortage of good resources on the finer details of Nelson so I'm really just relying on Trumpeter and Pontos instructions + what looks pretty and/or cool. Pontos changed a couple things on the superstructure and replaced the turret tops so I'm taking their word for it.
