Hull is almost done. The Spad's,Rhino's, Scooter are from other builds. Just wanted to see what they look like in the hangar deck.

Looking really good. What did you use to detail the hangar?

Back to work this weekend on finishing the hull. The start on the island and flight deck.

O.K. all the parts are on the hull and she has been prime. Just need to add the aircraft and equipment in the hangar bay. [

Looking Mighty Good - How similar is the model to a 1974 USS America? I asked in the other post as I am very intersted in getting the kit.

The hull are the same. I'm doing a full hull America myself. It's on another thread. Gregg from Shapeways is making the island. He told me he should be done by the end of the month. By the way I'm use the J.F.K hull because of the water breakers on the starboard side. Also the round large sponson on the portside. So get the J.F.K instead. The flight deck is different from Kitty Hawk.

Do you meen the flight deck is different between the Hawk and the America in the Hawk kit? how about the Island? are you saying the JFK kit is the closest kit overall to the America as she was 1974?

Yes, the J.F.K hull is the closest to the America. The bow were the anchor is the same as J.F.K. The island is total different from both Kitty Hawk and J.F.K. As for the flight deck it is a combination of both Kitty and J.F.K. l hope I answer your questions.

Many thanks for that, but to get two kits would be to expensive was just hoping to get the closer kit - I had assumed the Hawk would have been the closer as they were sister ships of the same build?

44, you don't get both kits. Just the J.F.K. is what you want for the America. I'm scratch making the flight deck myself. If you want I will send a pattern and you transfer on to a plastic sheet. It will be down the road maybe next month when the island is made. Jim got it right the America hull is just smaller Nimitz.

Just got a new camera. Added ( 6 ) Spads and ( 2 ) F4-B's to the hangar deck and I have been working on (2) Whales also. Equipment and crew are to be on deck soon.

Your build is coming along very well. I'm impressed with the hanger deck, etc!!! I'll follow your build as the destroyer I was aboard in 1966 was part of S##itty Kitty's Task Group for Westpac 66-67. I spent a week aboard prior to the cruise for aircrew rescue procedural training for the various types of aircraft that she would have aboard for the cruise.

Thanks Guys! I was ask by pm have I lost interest in my beehive island. No just taking my time on it. Post some progress later on.

Putting the final touches on Sunday in the hangar bay. The hard part comes with the island build.
