What to use?

If I use wood planking on a wood frame what type of weather resistant sealer should I use for the exterior of the model, be brand specific please cause I might not know exactely what I'm looking for... Also could you tell me the best saw to use for cutting the ribs? Also I was wondering what would you suppose would be the best wood for the ribs?
