Gold Medal Model Photo Tribute

In honor and recognition to Loren Perry - a true pioneer and innovator in our hobby - please post pictures of your models that incorporated Gold Medal Models products into the build. The model can be an older, or newer build, it just needs to have used Gold Medal Models photo-etch parts and/or decals to upgrade/enhance it.

You may post as many models that meet the criteria as you want, but each model should be in a separate post, and limit the number of photos in each post to three. Also, to prevent the thread from getting too unwieldy too quickly, please refrain from the usual "great job!" or "nice work" posts after each model.

Thanks to Stephen Allen for suggesting this tribute, and thank you Loren Perry for revolutionizing ship modeling!

I'll get this started. 1/350 Trumpeter USS Lexington, with Gold Medal Models photo-etch Lexington set. The set is very complete, the only thing missing is a photo-etch part for the lattice yardarm on the foretop.

Here's a brace of 1/700 Kagero class DDs that were superdetailed, primarily with GMM items.

My Trumpy DE was probably the first of my kits to use an aftermarket set, which was the then-new GMM DE set!

Great thread!

I only completed two ship diorama's so far, but I have found it almost inevitable to use GMM, even if there is no 'dedicated' set.

For this 1/700 Lexington, I used the dedicated set:

Here you can see safety nets, ladders, railings, raft 'floors' and paddles, etc. from the set:

There is no dedicated GMM set for Unryu class carriers, but still I used the Gold Plus IJN railing for this 1/700 Amagi, as it is much finer than the railing included in the other PE sets I used. I used it too, plus some GMM ladders and doors, on the scratchbuilt sea truck in the foreground.

And GMM ship PE hasn't only proven great for ship projects, but I have also used 1/700 GMM railings, ladders, and other bits, for this figure diorama:

Thank you Loren!

Here is picture highlighting aspects of the GMM fret for Varyag. The enclosed bridge is rendered in photo-etch.
Thank you Loren

This model is only one of several I have made using Gold Medal Models PE Sets. Thanks to Loren Perry for providing this material to enhance my models.

Alas....

I have not bought all that many 'dedicated ' whole ship GMM PE sets over the years;

but have spent a veritable Kings Ransom in GMM Gold Plus extra fine railing--I have often bought 10-15 sets at a time (!)

to obtain by far and away the THINNEST railings in 1/700 to date...

herewith a few railing images in tribute to Loren for his pioneering works in the marine PE World
