Predreadnoughts Italia, Lepanto

Ok guys,

I'll try one more time with another obscure class of ships, the Italia and Lepanto of the 1880's. Does anybody know of a source of info/plans for these ships? I'd be willing to bet they exist somewhere in an Italian archieve, but unfortunately ANB does not have a set of plans for them.

My fellow board members have come through for me time and again with sources of obscure information on oddball ships. If anybody knows of plans for these, I may go and buy a lottery ticket

Does anybody know if Italy has a Naval Archive?

It seems that just about every other country has archive of navy plans....

I have a number of useful pics--and a side elevation / overhead rendering that may be useful(6 funnel guise)

they are quite big files 1.4 mb each--so I would send them in batches.

When I visited the Venice maritime museum, there was a large cut away model of the Lepanto class theer as ell as Duilio.

I think I may have some of the images still on CD.

I will have a look in my Orrizonte Mare books-- there may be some lines--

(there was for the Roma in the llittorio class booklets)

in the italian books on history of the navy (storia della marina ed. fabbri) it is a good color profile and plan but no hull lines only a middle section.
one more illustration is in complete encyclopedia of battleships - tony gibbons (colour profile and front view full body, if you need i can scan for you (via pm)
annex the italians illustrations in reduced form
