From some postcards I recently won on e-bay. Anyone know which ships these are?

Also, two scans of Tiger. More to come (of various ships) as I have the time to scan them (and learn how to use my new scanner).

Martin:

My guess: KGV, Canada, Tiger, Tiger.

Looks like you were very fortunate to obtain these photos. I don't think I have seen them before.

Thanks Dave & Martin for sharing your very nice pictures. It is amazing what is available out there. In the old days, pictorial books about battleships always ran the same old dark indistinct photos. I used to think that there must be a shortage of good battleship portrait photography. I wonder why those authors did not do a better job of searching for photos.

A good book of quality photographs, if you can get hold of a copy, is World Warships in Review 1860-1905, by John Leather. published in 1976, it contains 133 photographs taken by Beken of Cowes, who were renowned marine photographers. Well worth looking out for, especially if, like me, you're a pre-Dreadnought fan.

That dazzle pattern on HMS London is really effective. It makes her look like a sloped casemate ironclad.
