Since November 2007, I've been working on a personal goal of building a model of each class of USN surface combatant vessels (i.e. DE,DD,FF,CG, etc). After that I think I'll get into Gators and Auxiliaries and then Carriers.

Here is what I have done so far. I've tried to put them order of release. I've included the models that I intend to build to complete the collection, too.

If I am missing any classes and models for them, please let me know.

Impressive collection there Carl

If you want all postwar classes of surface warships you could try converting the Corsair Armada Garcia into a Brooke. Then you could build some of the WW II ships that served postwar.

Examples are:

ISW Des Moines class heavy cruiser CA-139 USS SALEM
ADMIRALTY MODELWORKS CLAA 119 (Korean war)
ADMIRALTY MODELWORKS CA-145

You could also build a Baltimore class ------> CA-133 U.S.S. Toledo (Korean war)

For the Truxtun you could wait for JAGs future release for this kit.

Or alternatively you could choose another Baltimore class ship CA-75 U.S.S. Helena as converted to launch Regulus.

The Garcia-Brooke conversion is a great idea! I'll study the differences.

I love the collection! Nice to see a great post-war collection. I have built several of these just as out of the box examples.... It's nice to see how they look "dressed up".

Another ship you could build is FF-1098 U.S.S. Glover which is very similar to Garcia class.

I am cutting and pasting these ideas into my wish list, so that I don't forget.

The USS Des Moines would be nice to make to go along with my USS Iowa. The city of Des Moines is the capital of the state of Iowa, where I am originally from.

I didn't realize that the Des Moines class was built after WWII. 1948 according to NavSource.org. Cool!

I thought that there was only four classes of CGNs, Bainbrdge, Long Beach, Truxtun, and California. I've learned something new, from you. I'll add a Virginia class to my list.

Ooooo! That's a good one! Can you recommend a 1/700 kit? Convert a Skywave Gearing? Is it close to the JAG FRAM kit?

I like this thread they really are brilliant models Carl, I hope your quest is successful.

Now I'm going to add to your quest-you are missing the Dealey Class of there-an easy class to forget. Probably be a scratchbuild job mind.......

Dealey Class is on my list, now!

I can't find USS "Dealey" is that how you spell it? Destroyer? Cruiser?

I ran across the USS Nofolk. Might have to add that to the list, too.

Skywave kit is the best way to go as she had 3" AA midships and the Missle FC radar behind aft funnel, a little work on the Bridge, 3" AA and the Missile magazine aft, so not too much involved. There was several other conversions of this class to DDG, but DDG-1 has a certain ring to it,

I nearly mentioned CFA single arm Launcher to go with your twin arm version, but common sense prevailed(3/4 x version Sprucan, Tico's and AB ect)(before you know it 600 ship fleet)

You remind me now, that there is a Kidd class DDG, besides the Spruance.
