The Ship Model Forum

This has been an on again/off again adventure for the past year or so using the Anatomy of the Ship book as the primary reference. After taking a bit of a hiatus from modeling I've been tinkering around with it the past few days. The images show it as it stands now with work being done on the casemate deck. Pretty rough looking at this stage but I think it'll clean up nicely (I hope!)

Nice! This will be a unique model on the shelf. What building method are you using? Looks like a balsa and styrene mix.

And Matt, the main upper and lower hull halves are made from basswood layered in the "bread and butter" fashion. It'll eventually be skinned in styrene. The rest of the ship will be predominately styrene. I'm planning on building it entirely in resin castable sub-assemblies so someday I can also build an early Yamashiro and maybe a late 20's Fuso.
