I began working on this project on thursday i just wanted to have some progress before start taking pictures. This intricate Lionroar P.E set will most likely give me nightmares throughout the entire pagoda assembling step  the KA models wooden deck is IMO way better than Shinsengumis and waaaaaay cheaper too it even comes with its own adhesive tape sweeeeet!!! i really wanted to get ahold of the other Aoshima kit (AOSWL115) since i 'm modeling her in a 1941 refit too bad when i visited the Orlando Modelpalooza i couldnt find it however i did find this one and after going over it looks to me is practically the same with the exception of the 1944 fitted radars, extra gun tubs for the turrets and some deck shields.

Cant thank you enough guys im glad you are enjoying the buildup so far, i woke up early today and went right ahead to finish another level i planned to go to see Terminator Salvation but before heading to the theater i did manage finish this other level , thought it was going to be a disaster thanks to all those reviews i read on Yahoo, not true. Watch it if you can is not as bad as they wrote. Lionroar P.E set is not everything as you can see on the shots ive scratchbuilt certain things nevertheless the set itself takes the price home. The biggest problem i've seen until now is fusing the levels together, here is where the real problem lies. Im not only talking about gluing them together but correcting a lot of gaps that are left open, then as i was using the liquid mask i thought why not use it to seal these remaining gaps? i gave it a try an it worked nicely. I bought the liquid mask as a replacement to Tamiyas tape however Tamiyas is way better when you have to deal with edges an corners, liquid mask not soo good it does saves a lot of masking time though. still is a pretty good stuff for correcting gaps. I first thought about adding all the pagoda leg supports at the end and this is something i wouldve done some time ago but ive learn the best way in working these pagodas is doing it level by level even if it means cutting and adding leg supports every time i get to a level. ill have another update next Sunday.

I had to change my game plan completely when i noticed the following P.E level was too flimsy and not sturdy enough to stay leveled i had two options though, either scratchbuild the level or use the one provided with the kit and try to modify it the best i could. I chose option 2 as you can see, however another problem arose, for not doing it by the book when i got to the level above this one i uncovered another hole  . This other level was smaller than the one beneath it luckily only in length so i had to remind me again of the options from before, ill show you what i did next sunday..

Great detail work, Jose. I'm tempted to start mine but, I would really like to see how the new Haruna kit looks. THe casemates make me crazy.

Thanks Dan, i haven't seen the casemates on the 1/350 Haruna but the 1/350 and 1/700 Kongos are practically the same and is very likely it'll be the same thing with Haruna. Getting rid of the extra casemate's roundtables wasn't that bad i think the worst was thinking about doing it..

If it helps, Hobby Search has posted pictures of the 700 Haruna:

Thanks Phil, "Skillful Master" i don't really deserve such recognition, i'm merely an average modeler trying to get there

Well guys another level done 3 to go now. I lengthened the level then i drew it on a sheet of styrene, cut it and voila. i'm sure there are other ways in doing it so i just found this one less complicated.

Looks fine. The good news is there are less pagoda levels on Nagato than on Fuso

Keep up the good work.

damn those school summer semesters.. sigh. good thing im almost done with it it sucks knowing there is another one coming after it :mad_2: .
yesterday i got around in changing something i didnt like and finished up one of the levels halfway. These last levels are probably the most detailed of them all it should be a breeze knowing the pagoda level scratchbuilding is over though. I had to replace the 4.5 rangefinder the ones provided with the kit looked rather small, maybe these rangefinders from the Leviathan sprues are a bit overscaled but ill take these any day of the week over the others. I think, like i wrote before one of the most tedious things ive experienced with the entire pagoda has been the nonstop procedure of filling up gaps from one level to the other by far that hole you are seeing on the shot is the biggest one ive encountered yet and i dont dont if the liquid mask is going to work this time.. i got some tamiya putty and ive been thinking about using it but i dont want to put to much stress on the structure when i get to the sanding step..
