I am about 2 Months into this build, most of the time trying to figure out how to make the blast bags out of canvas. I am using a combination of WEM and Eduard PE sets as well as the BMK brass barrels. The paints I am using are RAL7000 for the hull, RAL7001 for the super struckture, turrets etc. RAL7024 for the dark gray antifouling red.

These are not very good pictures, but thats what you get for buying a cheap camera

Looking good, nice crisp painting. Keep the pics coming! Your ship build gives me inspiration to get to work on mine (USS England). I'd like to see a closer look at those blast bags. And please explain how you made them.

Thanks for the kind words, the camo stripes are really a pain to try to get strait.

Anyway here is what I did should have taken pictures throughout the process.

This is the basic pattern I used

The blast bags are not really attached they just kind of fit into the turret, here is a picture with one off

again I appologize for the quality of the pictures, here is as close up as I can get of the turret and blast bags

What I did was cut out the basic template, wrap it around the barrel until and then glued the edge together, I found that it was still to flimsy and needed to be hardened up, so on the next run I painted the template with testors camo gray. I found that this gave just enough stiffness to the canvas. Once it was glued I had to slowly trim it down until I got the desired effect. I think they turned out OK, but I just don't like using putty or glue for blast bags, guess I wanted the barrels to be able to move still.

A little more work done, final fit up before I catually start attching stuff, PE etc. Pretty happy with the way the camo turned out.

Well done on the camop stripes on the superstructure, they kicked my on my build of the tamiya version, so much in fact that I left them off all together. Nice build, keep it up!

It has been a trial to get the stripes right. I hand paint everything, never could bring myself to spend the money on an air brush. I use a fine pencil to draw the lines, that way if it doesn't look right I can just erase and start again.

Wow, that is hand-painted??? I am even more impressed, good job!

A little more done found the hangers next to the stack didn't fit very well, between gap filling glue and PE think they turned out OK

I have a question - what colors did you use for the deck and the grey?

Looks like Tamiya Deck Tan. Is this correct?

Also, whats the grey color and did you use enamel or acrylic?
