Dull Black question

What is the ratio of flat white and flat black to make Dull Black? Or what shade of black would be the best to use?

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. Depends on what you're painting, scale and your views on "scale effect", lighting conditions and the surrounding color tones.

Most of all it's personal preference as to what looks "right" to you.

I have been just using Flat Black for thats what catches my eye more.

I painted over my 4 different shades of "dull" black(never could match each batch ) with just flat black and, it seems to me, that it makes the camo schemes more pronounce.

As far as acrylics go........Polly S "Grimy Black" is an alternative for a flatter/duller black. There is an "Oily Black" in a collection of railroad colors (brand name escapes me) that a friend uses for flight decks on his LHDs. I bought two bottles of it, for him, at a local hobby shop and sent them to him but, I haven't tried it, myself.

I have not noticed a difference between Model Master Acrylic Flat Black and their "Tar" color.
