Copper Plate Adhesive

I have dragged a scratch-built Spanish galleon project out of storage where it has been since 1973 and I was happy with what I had done then and decided to finish it. I had bought some copper plates, about 3/8" x 3/4" by .002" thick for the bottom and I need to attach them. Has anyone done this? I am wondering about the best adhesive for the job. I have some 3M Super 77 but does anyone know of a better way to get them on the hull to stay?
Thanks,
rixxir

Alternatively you can set aside your copper plate and purchase a self-adhesive copper foil for Tiffany (name of color-glass art)
Here is an example of what can be done with this foil.

The model is not mine but of a modeller from Germany nickname const.
Another advantage of this foil is that it comes in form of a tape so you can have very straight lines.
Google and you will find a shop. Here is a link I found on random to give you a picture:

Hi rixxir ,when I built my Richelieu,I tried something new--plating her anchor deck with" German army anti-skid"(lionroar),I chose HUH glue mainly and masterbond to wipe out peripheral apertures and slits and I thought that's quite tough.
