It will be static...Otherwise I would not have the courage to use 8mm ply...

Hi Jmchaica Good subject and I like the way you have lifted the profiles from the body plan to the building board good methodology.

An article about the Casablanca class CVE ???..
Sure, why not ??? But it will be posted in the "Calling all ship fans - CVE" area instead...
The ship I�m building is the Natoma Bay (CVE-62), as she appeared in the Pacific area in 1944, during the Saipan invasion.
By this time, she had a detachment of Army P47 ( 37 planes), which were catapulted to give the Army some Air/Ground Support. After that, the planes would land in the newly acquired airfields of Saipan.
Ah, forgot to mention, that together with this ship, I will also be building all 37 P47 planes...

Just cut the parts that will become the flight deck...

Now it�s starting to look like something...




...and I also started receiving what will be my future Airgroup.....from the Army, but still an Airgroup. At least to me...
31 more to arrive, hopefully by this weekend...

All those aircraft! I would be having nightmares about all those kits surrounding me The hull looks great so far!

Nice to see a carrier build again. One things for certain, it's going to be a very strong hull, with all that woodwork. Great build, keep the photo's coming.

Like the dowels! Useful idea to help line things up and stop the dreaded twisting. But what the heck is an "Azor-Back"? Did someone nick the R's?

Why are you going to post such an article in CVE thread??? I never read that thread as it is not my interest. If you post it here I'm pretty sure you'll reach more readers! I'm interested in any build, but not in CVE related things, that is why I'm not reading that "calling all CVE fans" topic, but do read all topics here!
Maybe you should post it here, in this thread...

Oh.. I thought you had asked for an article on ALL CVE�s, and not the building of this particular CVE...Sorry...
I will not bother you with a thread like "I did this, I did that, I nailed here, I glued there..."
If somebody has a question or more about this construction, then please, place the questions and I will answer them all, the best I can ( or that my English lets)...

Just keep us all informed on your Cassablanca build. This forum is for anything scratchbuilt. So far you have shown some great photos Look forward to the next update.
