Has anyone tried Balsa Foam for making hull shapes? I'm seriously considering trying it, but it's a bit of an investment and I wondered how well it would work.

It looks promising but I wonder how forgiving it is of errors. In other words, what fillers are available to correct slip ups. It looks like some experimenting with small pieces is the way to go.

Let me know ehere you found some. I'm running out. Balsa Foam can be fixed with Bondo and you give it a coating of Bondo for extra strength. I coat mine with Envirotex 2-part casting resin. It soaks in and gives the foam a very hard surface. CAUTION: wear a respirator, dust goes everywhere. I'd use the 12-18 lb. density foam if you have a choice. Is yours for static or a buck to do a resin hull?
