WWII Battleships by Garzke and Dulin

Hello!

Any views on the (old) three volume overview of WWII-battleships by Garzke and Dulin?

Is it just a historic overview of battleships or are also technical lay-outs and (fold out) plans of the ships included? Otherwise said, could the books be used for deailed modelling?

The WWII German Battleships-books by Koop and Schmolke (Bismarck Class, Scharnhorst Class, Deutschland Class), does these books provide a good technical lay-out or plans suitable for modelling? (main interest: Bismarck Class)

Ps: Also interested in similar books on the King George V Class and Iowa Class...

No really, but for good books

Bismarck: Schlachtschiff Bismarck part I by Josef Kaiser. Koop & Schmolke drawings, well, hmmm... If you need really good drawings you need to refer to German book stores who sell them (very expensive though).

KGV class: Not really any particular book, but good drawings to be found in Raven & Roberts "British battleship of WWII" and Burt's "British battleship of WWII" plus information stolen [url="http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/battleships-board/58361-king-george-v-class-battleship-1939-a.html"]here[/url] from the Warship series. There really is no proper resource with a lot of detail for these battleships (or I missed it).

Iowa class: for a single book, I guess the book by Robert Sumrall's "Iowa class battleships", but modeling-wise the Floating Drydock's planbook of USS Missouri contains about everything you need for that particular battleship. Not the post WWII versions though.

Any comments on the book: German Capital Ships in WWII by Whitley?

I know it's mainly history but I heard it contains plans and line drawings too...

"Plans and drawings" range from crude doodling to full-blown draftsmen's projects; from three of Whitley's books I've previously owned, the drawings are a little bit better than the former, but a long way from the latter. They give a reasonable idea of the overall size and shape of the subject in plan view, but are essentially useless for modeling. If you have ever seen a Jane's Fighting Ships compilation, you'll have an idea of those drawings I had seen in Whitley's books. They are very schematic and simplified.

IF the German ships book is anything like the three other volumes I used to own, it may not be of much value for modeling. Good luck!
