How about you do ALL the heavy research BEFORE you release your product? How about you take a good look at the kit such as the Trumpeter 1/200 Bismark and find all errors BEFORE you release your product? I think releasing new projects because customers and dealers are asking for them BEFORE you finish working on a released PE set is a big error. All the time that you put into a new project can be put into fixing products that customers have already paid for. If you do that, you will FINISH the released product much faster, and THEN you can start on a new project. What you are doing is only making more people unhappy. To have several unfinished projects out there is only going to increase the amount of customers that will be awaiting updates. For us who already have sets to have to wait MONTHS for upgrades is awful. I bought the Bismarck (>$200) and the Pontos set (>$200) and have not been able to enjoy it because of your delays. If I had known this was going to be the case I would have spent all that money on something else or would still have it in the bank. You have to look at it like that rather than trying to make everyone happy when they ask for something new.
Please rethink your process. You make a beautiful product, but you need to manage how you deliver it properly.
Bismarck is our first 1/200 set and so We had planned and researched much more than any other project.
The biggest problem was we had not checked fully the Manual and PE parts for a few days faster releasing at last April 2013.
As you know, this had made us many subsidiary foolish sideeffect works and more have made Many owners be confused until now. The second problem was we had set the retail price of Bismarck set too low comparing with the final real set.
This means we tend to set the estimated retail price during our design process prior to finalizing the retail set.
So now our 23001F1/22001F1 code Bismarck are discontinued in supplying and new 23001F2/22001F1 (ver.2) will be shipped from this May with 40.00/50.00 raised price. With these ver.2 releasing, we passed all the instruction manual revised edition to the printer now. So preowners of our 23001F1/22001F1 had bought these sets with a easier cost than new owners from now though some manuals have faults (this new manuals can be seen already at the webpage of each product).
I can't tell you preowner that you have a profit of 40USD but we always thank to you preowner.

As for the Advanced set, we tried to design the additional advanced set parts to be added simply on the basic set(until now almost have been designed as we planned) but some new additional parts are not.
We are also sorry for these parts.

Anyway now I am finalizing and testing some new parts and try to release Advanced set as soon as possible.

Thank you

thank you kim I will wait for your sets as they are the best on the market in my opinion alright your release dates are wrong maybe you should give yourself more time and set realistic dates to complete your sets then you would not get all this negative feed back but on the other had what other manufacture gives the buyers an opportunity to ask for extra stuff would people rather you became like everyone else and release a set of what you want with no input from the buyers we cant have it both ways as for the instruction issues hopefully you learn from the mistakes

I actually appreciate that Mr Kim is here and willing to share along the way what is going on with the progress. I think it comes off badly in some ways that some say hurry up hurry up while at the same time exacting impossible expectations of everything being perfect. At least by sharing the progress input can be gathered as part of the research. I think its unique and appreciate that you keep responding even when there are some gripes. I would prefer to wait and see what you have as you progress. The only minor pick I have is that sometimes it goes dark on the thread and no one knows even the approximate frame work ... in terms of budgeting and building I understand that ... but I consider that minor in respects to the fact that you are willing to share as you progress along ...

Thanks Mr Kim for continuing to keep everyone appraised ... look forward to buying this advanced set as I have the basic set already and will not build until I have both :) .

Instruction manuals reprinted.

Post by Pontosmodel »

Hi,
We have printed 1/200 Bismarck basic set Instruction manuals wholely with Ver.2 releasing.
This version 2 manual can also be used on first version you have.

And as I mentioned before posting, 23001F1/22001F1 are discontinued.
So from May shipping, 23001F2/22001F2 Version 2 Basic set will be shipped with new instruction.

The important thing is that the Ver.2 retail price have been raised 40/50USD more than previous version(23001F1/22001F1).

We have uploaded the PDF files of new manuals on website.
If you wish get this new printed manual, we can ship this freely but we would ask the real shipping cost 2.00USD via Paypal at this case. So please send to my email if you wish.

Thank you

Mr. Kim,
You don't mention the "advanced" addition for those of us that purchased the original 23001F1. This is what I have been waiting for, not a complete revamp of the entire set. When will it be released and how much will it be?
Thanks

Are you going to put out an upgrade set of the Basic Photoetch. I have the Basic set with the wooden floor but would like to buy just the pieces for the upgrade. If we are saving $40.00 or $50.00 on a new Super upgrade set then why don't you sell us just the pieces to complete the build that were into?

Mr. Kim,

I went to your site and the only new PDF is the very same one that was updated January of this year. This is the same manual I currently have and the one I asked questions about in a previous post on here (page 30) and have yet to receive a reply.

What is new since January of this year in there? I am still very confused on some things. In addition, will there be a way to get JUST the upgraded parts we need without having to buy a whole new set since we already have 23001F1 (version 1)?

And can you change it to "Set Up" instead of " Up Set", cause it does upset me to not understand this.

The "up" refers to "detail up", not "up set".

Some misunderstading for our ver.2 basic sets.
23001F1/22001F1 original version(ver.1) have some faults in instruction manuals.
So we modified instruction manual on the following website with PDF files.
http://pontosmodel.com/html/23001f1.html

23001F2/22001F2(ver.2) are not advanced sets,
These two new version sets have just updated and printed all new manuals corrected
And added only 2 Arado cart parts.

These Arado Carts will be also added on Advanced set(temporary code: 21001F1) coming at this May.
The retail price of Advanced set(21001F1) and final contents are not determined yet.
Of course you already have 23001F1 /22001F1 can get this Advanced set (21001F1) without duplicated cost.

Thank you

Mr. Kim,

Your new PE instructions DO look a lot better and easier to understand. THANK YOU!

However, I still need to know about the parts I listed in previous post J3/J4Resin Parts (and I see there are two different J3s, but I am referring to the part that goes around the anchor). You show the part, but no other explanation.

Also, where do 81 and 82 go? There is NO picture or mention of them anywhere I can find, other than on the 2nd page where they are seen, and they are included in the PE parts.

I also see a picture (page 12 and other pages as well) of a very large anchor at the stern of the ship that is directly in the middle; however, the Bismarcks is on the side. Is this picture representing the Trumpeter kit, and if so, why the difference?

It is much easier to see how to make the boat's now as well. In next upgrade of instructions, more pictures of where the PE sits would be nice.

Navyveteran

Thank you Timmy C for that clarification.

I was able to find the new set on pontos website by entering the set number is the browser address bar.

original set: 23001F1 1/200 BISMARCK 1941 Detail Up Set Basic

version 2 set: 23001F2
1/200 BISMARCK 1941 Detail Up Set Basic Ver.2

There is very limited information on their website. If they could list all their sets on the website / update it I think alot of customers would appreciate it.

Hi
I have followed this thread from the sideline for some time, 1/200 is a very attractive scale but too bulky for me, I live in a small appartment, space is limited so 1/350 is the scale for me at least for the moment.

I have had the pleasure of using the Warspite and the Duke of York sets and I am very pleased with the results, there are flaws of course, all kits have them but we are modelbuilders so we try to sort them out and fix them, that is part of the fun!

I agree with members of this thread that warns about pushing things - I prefer a well executed set with correct and readable instructions, I can wait - my best advice is: Be patient and let Mr. Kim do his magic!

Mr.Kim
It is great news that you have continued work on the 1/350 Revell Bismarck set and the pictures look very promising, I halted my build over a year ago to wait for your set. May I suggest you open a new thread for this project, it is so much easier to follow your efforts there and it will not ad to the confusion about the 1/200 sets.

Best regards

I have just posted the following message on the site for new released set for Mikasa......

"Very good Mr.Kim but why do you not answer question from navyveteran than he has asked twice on the Bismarck 1/200 site...

" quote........However, I still need to know about the parts I listed in previous post J3/J4Resin Parts (and I see there are two different J3s, but I am referring to the part that goes around the anchor). You show the part, but no other explanation.

As l have said he has asked twice so rather than go on about new kits etc why not just answer the basic question a customer asks who has already parted with his money?
You give the impression that once someone has parted with money and bought a kit you don't care and just go on about forthcoming kits. "

Come on give a little customer respect and answer straightforward questions on an already released kit.

O.K. I had passed Navyveteran's qustion to the Mr. Park but not received the answer from him yet.
But I think I can answer some of his questions.
J3/J4 both can be used on the Anchor stopper that missed at the Kit.
J3 is for right side and J4 is for Port side anchor stopper.
Even you are mixed or confused before applying these, you can find easily the right angle with dry fitting on the bow deck.
80 is just catapult cover inside maybe for walking on catault.
81 and 82 are the underside plate of this cover for realizing the open cover for Arado shooting.

And I can't understand the stern large Anchor matter yet. and what means "page12" also.

I have been tried to answer all the question when I have some rest time especially for the owner of our sets.
I am sorry you feel I am lazy for answering for our customers in English.
But please understand also I have always got the help of Google translator from English to Korea or vice versa.
This asks me too much time in writing or reading.

Anyway,
Now I would finalize the contents of Advanced sets for bismarck.
Following list is for contents.
1 8 Paravanes - you can see through this threading.
2 2 Arado Carts - this also can be found some photos at this thread.
3 Funnel Pipes..- this also
4 some triangle aereal Spreaders for rigging between mast to mast etc.
5. Small rudder for the Floatof Arado.
6. Individual Rail poles for wiring rail users.
7. Small bits missed at the Basic sets.
8. Triple layer doors for Starlight windows on the deck.
9. Door on Searchlight Housing.
10. Sd.Ah.51 Trailers
11. Waterways for the outer of main deck.
12 Vent louvres as many location as possible
13. Paravane booms
14. 3 Metal Screws with 18K real gold plate.

And some small PE parts for structures can be added.

And we tried to realize Linked Anchor chains but our supplyer has failed with 3D printing.
So this can't be included at this Advanced set.

And if I had one more month, I would have added full resin Fairey Swordfish Mk1 K8375 plane with decal at this Advanced set. With one month delay, seeing from this thread, Almost our customers can't wait this Avanced set, so I would not do this at this time. But you may meet this at our current undergoing project 1/350 Bisamrck detail set if you would not say "Goodby".

Thank you

Hi

As an answer to navyveteran's question:

"However, I still need to know about the parts I listed in previous post J3/J4Resin Parts (and I see there are two different J3s, but I am referring to the part that goes around the anchor). You show the part, but no other explanation."

Could it be this thing?

I got the picture from this great build log:

Mr Kim,
I can't believe it YOU HAVE NOT INCLUDED the walkway and hand railing that goes around the Arado catapult :Mad_6:
In an earlier thread you said you WOULD include this part.

Can you include as a late extra please??

Thanks
