A few 3D renders of the complete ship—something I hadn't been able to do until now, given the sheer size of the 3D project and the limitations of my old Mac.

I was finally able to integrate the ship's boats, as well as the completed rudder. The boats and the rudder were kept in separate files—the only way to continue working on the ship's design without overwhelming my old Mac.

The new Mac Pro handled it all with ease.

These images represent the culmination of several hundred hours of design work. 😅

That's not bad!

ChatGPT (AI) did a good job with the staging... Just for fun.

It works.

Okay, just one more, let’s not overdo it, a shot I really like of battleships in general.

I had immediately reported the post, then messaged an admin directly, with a link to this build log. Glad they took it down.

People suck.

Tks for your report Martin and Jim (By mail) .

Actually, this is the second time in recent weeks that some clever clogs has used my photos to scam people on Facebook. I reported the first one to Facebook, who deleted the message, but the one you mentioned had already been deleted before I could do anything about it.

Reported by Jim in June...

Pascal,

Looks like someone on FB is using your images as his own.

Thanks Chris!

You must have one hell of a collection!

Indeed, at the time (1916-15) the ship had an occre red linoleum deck, for the nature of the tint is of course subject to various interpretations at a time when color photography was in its infancy.

This coating was quickly abandoned during WW1, as it was deemed too flammable, and the steel decks were painted.

Paris green (Schweinfurter Grn) was also phased out in 1918, I believe, as it was too dangerous for painters' health.

It's hard to know exactly what shades of blue-grey were used, but in 1915, they were quite dark.

Iceman a fine ship to model and so beautifully researched and developed! I am very interested in the French Navy it is a remarkable fleet with a very remarkable history thru many eras.

I am currently collecting 3000 scale versions of most fleets of WWII, and will be of course doing the French fleet before the very sad events in 1940 which I still cannot accept as rational in any way. However to move on, i am very intrigued by your deck colour. I looked carefully at the photos for info on both the hull and superstructure colour and the decks. I will have to solve those issues for ships of all classes, and was quite interested to see that colour. I have read that other ships of other classes of the French fleet used a warm colour, variously described as red and other shades. For other fleets linoleum was used was that the case here? It did look like the deck was metal plates rather than the wood of some fleets.

I cannot say enough about how marvelous your attention to detail is Love the figures, ships boats are also very well done i will continue going thru this thread soon, just got started and wanted to skip ahead to see where you were. truly fine work.

Thanks, Wefalck, Josse and Marijn. :thumbs_up_1:

@Marijn: unfortunately, I don't have your dexterity with a paintbrush.

I'm a bit late on this one as I've started another project.

This series is finished being painted. Now they can get on board.

Wow, fantastic work on those figures! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Just to be able to do this, I will have to learn 3D designing at some point in the future too... So thanks for the inspiration!

The lower part of the photo shows the finished figures, while the upper part shows the application of the base colour.

I use 5 colours for each figure.

Indeed Tom! Tks. :thumbs_up_1:

I've started to 'furnish' the deck. Only a few of the 200 sailors are in place.

The photos are average because of the white, which is a bit clashing. It looks much better in real life.

All these sailors still have to be placed.

I painted maybe 200 for my APA and ARL in a larger scale, Quite a tedious task, at least for we old folks! Will add a lot to the model!

Cheers: Tom
