In a consulting company I worked for, this kind of prowess was tagged as being a CLM (Career Limiting Move), after which you were ETL (Encouraged To Leave), and if you did not get the hint, eventually TTL (Told To Leave).
The one thing I wonder is why on earth would ship captains engage in that sort of reckless manoeuvre?
When I was in the army, we occasionally had an APC flatten the fence of a German countryside house, "Oops, tut mir Leid, you will have to talk to our Ubungschadenoffizier; it is the nice guy with the checkbook over there�", but THIS is outrageous. It does not qualify as an accident, just as plain reckless stupidity.
