Boil the water. I tend to tape the part to a curved piece of steel (such as a X-acto handle)or wood, plunge it in boiling water then run under a cold tap. To state the obvious, be careful about scalding yourself. I tend to drop the plastic in the water then fish it out with a pair of kitchen tongs.
Works rather nicely.
