Thanks for that Andy, I was a little annoyed with Ingura not for posting the picture but for leaving off the text, the picture on its own made it look as though the vessel was out of shape, and not in its early stages of being built.
If I had posted something that was critical of the build I could have understood it, but pointing out that there was an alterative build on this board, I was only trying to be help full, is that not the name of the game at MW,s

Ah...the delights of scratchbuilding!

I could, I suppose, build a kit out-of-a-box - but I'd find it a bit soulless, merely following instructions and using the materials provided. What ARH exemplifies on this board (and why I've loved following his builds) has been that when experience meets scrounging and is coupled with an eye for what looks good - he delivers.

Okay, you win.

I prefer to think of myself as building slowly, rather than standing still. There's a difference! (I think the difference is that I know I'll get there - the Dreadnought is not put to one side and left alone if I have spare time).

Tony and Kaiser are beating me with their six years, but in my two years I'm still not near the water, not built anything above the decks other than the masts and boats, and there's no paint on the hull yet. My plans to make every vessel in the Grand Fleet, at this rate, will take me to until about 3508AD.

Both you fine gentlemen are mere rookies at project stand-stills! :heh:

May I present: HMS Renown scratch conversion, begun circa 1982-83, a full quarter-century and four U.S. presidents ago. I did manage to replace a main battery turret I lost somewhere along the way, which I tossed into the project's binbox about four years ago; other than that, it's no further along now than it was in 1984.

I accept your challenge Andy! I laid my keel for SMS Pommern in the spring of 2002. After the making the basic hull, I jumped to building the funnels, decks, guns, etc, I am just now finally completing the hull. So I am on my sixth year.....

Well Ingura that really offends me , I dont mind you posting the picture, but to leave off the writing.

Hi Guys, As you can see from the bow shot still work to do on the hull.

The hull was just a flimsy piece of resin and paste , no guts, and like all bow shots not exactly square on,

Hi again !

Sorry , I didn't see this ...

Consider I didn't say anything , all right ?

Hello Laurent, I am on here all the time, reading, enjoying, but do not post very often.

It is not accurate what you said. I spent a lot of time planning how to accomodate the exact thickness of the planks I cut. To quote myself from my web site,
How to Build a Battleship Model from Scratch:The S.M.S. Pommern wrote:Station Templates
"Plank on frame" seemed to be the standard for building a hull, so this is what I decided to do. I thought the frames were called "bulkheads" but they
seem to be referred to as "hull stations" so this is what I will call them. The sheet for the hull station templates was reduced to 96% of its original
size to account for the thickness of the planks I planned on using.
HERE is the page. What I do admit to being, is the world's slowest ship model builder.

Nevermind

...my apologies, Ingura, but I perceived your post as a slight toward Ron, a fellow that has done much for scratchbuilders and has never been one to withhold good ideas and advice.

Why go there, in scratch build there.s 15 pages of building IRON DUKE, pictures and text, it will give you more ideas.
