In two years I have bought{purchased} plans: S. M. S. Emden. . Baupl�ne d. Kleinen Kreuzers. Kassel 1996. 4 S., 14 Pl., 1 Taf. 31 cm. OMappe. Huff, Peter G.

The book is not so necessary to me, and drawings I wish to leave to itself for memory. They are very in details traced.

Now I wish to sell the book. If buy{purchase} the book I shall make to you copies of drawings, I shall write down on ?D and I shall send together with the book (drawings - free of charge). I can make copies of drawings on a paper, but they greater{big} and will cost dearly{expensively} (if on one leaf{sheet}) or I can make free of charge copies of drawings on sheets of format ?4 (a paper for the printer) and having combined some parts, you receive the whole.

Have you found plans for Emden yet and if so were did you get them? I want to do one in 1/96 scale.Maybe we should work on this together? I have a machine shop and make my own gun barrels from brass. I could do mine in 1/100 scale to make everything the same. I will be making a plug then a female mold so I can prouduce fiberglass hulls .

This excellent library in Stuttgart has the Huff plans.

They can copy and ship them. The curator speaks english and is very knowledgeable and helpful. Also note their other plans -- a wonderful collection.

Even if you don't know German, Mr. Huff's book is worth having just because is beautifully published.
The book itself is the author's only written and became his life's work.
In my opinion (I hope I'm not alone) the books of such enthusiasts, being not commercial ventures, are very often much better than the books of renowned professional writers. They come suddenly from nowhere and are hits (remember the wonderfull work of Mr. Langtree The Kelly's, or Franklin's The Buckley-class,or maybe less popular because in German Klapdor's Zerstoerer Friedrich Ihn or Sifferlingers Panzerkreuzer Sankt Georg).
Renowed authors' books are announced long before publishing, the spiral of 'hysterics' is created on forums like this and often the balloon of expectations bursts after publishing and the complaints arise as the book appears nothing special
God give as more enthusiasts, please.

Thanks very much for the information. I've sent inquiry e-mails out. I'm now waiting for replies. Hopefully I'll be onto plans soon. From what I understand, the Huff book is well worth having, even if I don't speak German. Finally feel as if I'm making progress!

I do have one advantage with Emden's guns. I'm within driving distance of one of her casemate 10.5 cm guns, and one of her shielded 10.5 cm guns. The former is in Sydney's Hyde Park, the later in the Canberra museum. It's nice being able to view something from the actual ship. I'm curious which specific gun position they're each from. If I recall correctly, at least one of Emden's guns was blown overboard during the fight with HMAS Sydney.

My apologies if this topic has been covered before, but the information I've tracked down is way out of date. I'd like to build the Emden at 1:100 scale. Always one of my favorite ships. It appears the best plans, by all accounts, are the ones done by Peter Gunter Huff. I'm about 8 years late - they're out of print. I've been searching for weeks, and found quite a few used copies of his book. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be parting with their plans! My high school German isn't good enough to dig around the German websites. I did come across the M.Z. Modellbau Emden kit at 1:100. It looks good, but I'm not sure of the accuracy. I keep comparing all Emden models to photos of Mr. Huff's beautiful 1:100 scale.

Any ideas or leads I can follow up? Can I still get a copy (even electronic) of the Huff plans? I've been building planes and armor for years. Switching over to ships, and finding where to look for things, is a bit harder than I thought it'd be.
