On Bismarck wreck photos it appears to me that the painted over stripes look somehow 'fresher' as the rest of the hull, there is no black or something shining through (at least on the photos I have seen online, maybe someone who had seen the wreck with his/her own eyes will prove me wrong ...).
Maybe this 'fresher' look can be achieved by painting the hull, weather it and THEN applying the 'stripes' with the same grey used before.
At least this is what I want to try on my PG ...
