I contacted VF and they promised to send us the new frets E & G free of charge. OK, it took almost two months but I am happy for their reaction. My friend has already started his IJN Taiho and confirms that at least PE parts G66, G67, G70, G71, G72, G73 and G74 are missing. So hopefully we will get now the corret frets.

Hey there! It's awesome that you're adding photoetch and scratch-built details to your Tamiya IJN Taiho kit - sounds like a cool project! When it comes to the "wings" on the rear of the flight deck, the triangular platform is a common choice in models. However, if you're looking for more intricate details like those on later war carriers, you can consider referencing historical photos or drawings of the Taiho to get a more accurate representation. Studying different angles and perspectives might give you a better idea of how those wings looked on the actual ship. Keep up the great work on your build, and I'm sure your attention to detail will make it fantastic!

Otherwise yeah, they're a small company with not much presence. Their website has a contact us form and an email address at the bottom right that you can try (no guarantees though): http://www.veryfirehobby.com/shouhoujibujian/
Sorry for my late answer (have been really ill for the past month :Mad_6: ).

No, I have not done that yet, but my friend already started his Taiho, so we will learn soon enough...

I will try to reach VF for any comments.

Dan,

This sounds very odd, that they would have different parts in a similar kit version (different batch? or country related?)...

Is there any channel to reach Very Fire for help? Or are they one of those small companies who will never answer?

Thanks anyway!

Yes, that is correct Timmy!

And furthermore, my friend who already started the model, said that there are clearly missing some parts eg. railings in fret G, that the building instructions require to be assembled. I guess, some of the parts can be replaced with the parts from the generic PE sets... But still, very annoying :Mad_5:

According to Britmodeller.com this is not a new problem with Very Fire:

I'm not clear on what you are asking. My frets match those layouts. Are you saying within the instructions themselves? As in step be step assembly?

Hi all,

I and my friend we both bought Very Fire's IJN Taiho 1/350 DX-version. After quick check we both found out that the photo etch frets deviate from the pictures in instructions. At least frets E & G are not similar. Most likely this will cause some nasty problems.

Has anyone met the same issue? Any response from Very Fire?

It's hard to know. Since the model shows almost every surface covered with treaded metal and no obvious linoleum surfaces, it might be best to leave well enough alone.

That said, there is one potential area that could be covered with linoleum, part I6, on the bridge. this part has some surfaces that are exposed walkways, even though it is partially covered by other decks.

That's a very interesting thread, thanks for sharing, leaves me wondering on Taiho which if any may have been linoleum, there's so little info on her I guess I can treat it as best guess really,

Re: Calling all IJN Taiho (??) fans

Yes and no. Generally speaking, most metal deck areas (like an anchor deck) are covered with treaded metal and are gray. However, a good portion of the unplanked decks were often cover with linoleum, and fastened down with brass tie-down strips. It varied by ship type and class.

See: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=159424

Tamiya also makes that color XF-79. So do other paint manufacturers. There is said to be some variation in the color, depending on origin and batch.
