Joe Ed Loe has been a source of inspiration for me for 3D CAD ship modeling. If you haven't seen his "Mechanisms of Imperial Japanese Warships in 3D" website, give it a look:

Alexey Burdin in Russia has been working on a CAD model of the
USS Slater DE-766. His work is a masterpiece! Like me, Alexey is a nut and bolt counter. Unfortunately I do not have a link to his work.
These two fellows showed me the way and encouraged me to attempt an historically correct, accurate as possible, model of the
USS Oklahoma City CLG-5. So, if you think I am crazy, blame them!
