Hi Dave!

The figures are a mix of german manufacturer Germania-Figuren.eu (3D printed, excellent quality!), the old ESCI/Italeri "GIs in Vietnam"-set and the "Pilots & Ground Crew"-set.

Very nice work Hajo! The color looks great. Where did you get the figures?

I owe you some pictures of the finsihed model!

Check it here: https://www.modellversium.de/galerie/14 ... evell.html

The description is german, but I think the pictures speak for themselves. If not, just ask me your questions here.

Domi,
Fantastic link! Thank you! I have the old Monogram 1/48th kit that I planned to detail and scratchbuild an interior, but have also purchased the new Revell 1/72nd kit.

Hello Hajo,

Look at that site:
https://coronadotimes.com/news/2017/05/ ... on-patrol/

Found it relevant, although I do not know if the pale green interior color is correct.
If it is, what could be its FS number?

Have you noticed that the US flag provided by Revell might be wrong (48 stars instead of 50)?

Best regards,
domi13

From the interior of PCF-104. Looks like they're actually on bulkhead mounted racks.

What a great resource, much appreciated!

Yes, it comes with interior, although there is much room for improvement.

I like the kitchen sink, but that "radio" looks more than strange. Maybe I add another or replace it.

The steering compartment (?) is ok as well, as you can see, I added some detail with maps and "girls". ;)

Image

Right to the wheel those two small cubicles look strange, according to the 1/35 instructions they are a small radio and a fathometer. They are way too small in 1/72 and I will try to replace them.

I didn't know the new Revell kit has an interior!! Just wish it was bigger!

From the 1/35 scale Masterpiecemodels Swift Boat kit instructions, that is the radioman's position and that would be the radio set. I was planning on using these instructions as a go by to add an interior to the old Monogram/Revell 1/48 Swift Boat kit someday.

Can somebody shed some light on that equipment thats right to my Playboy-centerfold?

Image

Because of its shape and the position on the kitchen-pantry Im close to call it a coffee-machine (probably as important than Diesel-engines for the functioning of the boat... ;) ), but the seat right at the position may indicate its a radio. Any ideas?

Also, not pictured here, but on the port-side inside the cabin, is that a bunk-section?

I have the kit now! If you want pictures of the sprues, just say it...

Haze gray and riverine green are valid choices depending on area of operations - coastal or river. Dark gray is a good choice for coastal patrols. Talking with two different PCF vets the dark gray was a home brew so you have a lot of leeway in final tone. The first PCF's I saw at Sa Dec were Haze Gray as I recall.

Forgot: Decal options will be PCF-9, PCF-65, PCF-103.

Picture of a prototype-model can be seen on the homepage of Revell:

Lets put it friendly: There is much room for improvement by an experienced modeller.

I'd assume to get back onboard after getting off on the riverbank.
ETA: you can see the net, and how high the bow is, here.

Whats the purpose of the net at the bow?

Thanks a lot! If you have any more pictures of green Swiftboats...

Im looking forward for the kit to be released this summer and will put it on my workbench ASAP.

That looks like what they did. And here is a view of the star on the roof, if you use one. Note that the spotlights and such were painted the background color.

Awesome! Id go with a field modification paint job = put black patterns wherever you think it looks good.
