They're self healing mats. The knife doesn't leave any grooves in them. The also are a little rough so whatever is being cut doesn't slip easily. They also come in other colors. I've had a grey one and a blue one.

Craft Stores and Sewing Stores are a couple of good places. You might even find several other things that will work for modeling.

If you do a UK Google for "Self Healing Cutting Mat " you will find you can get them from all sorts of places.
If you have a Hobbycraft, or a decent craft shop in your area, you should be able to pick one up there. :thumbs_up_1:

i've noticed a lot of people using green mats with printed spaced sqares on them. Am i right in thinking thease are cutting mats and where can i get one as im slowly cutting through my desk :big_grin:
