Well I guess at least the NJ is in Camden rather than Pearl, so it's easier for me to see cause of a series of unfortuante events.

Have charity. Missouri has so little.

I think if Roosevelt was alive it would have been something meaningful like Nevada.

That's really kind of upsetting, especially with NJ being fleet flagship. So do you think if Roosevelt was still alive it would have been NJ? or would it have been NY ?

That was the reason. By right the ceremony should have been aboard the New Jersey, which was fleet flagship at the time. The flag transfer from New Jersey to Missouri was done at the behest of Truman.

Missouri is named for President Truman's home state. I wouldn't put it beyond reason she was chosen because of that. While Truman was busy stripping the active Navy after WWII, down to a couple carriers, he still refused to allow Missouri to decommission.

We all know that the Japanese surrendered aboard the Missouri, but for years now I've been hearing that the ceremonies should have taken place on South Dakota or New Jersey. Being from NJ, I'd feel kind of upset if this is true. Can anyone reinforce this info?
