Calling all Japanese pre-war/wartime Merchant Marine fans

Having recently picked up Tamiya 1/700 tugger set, I see there is an "oiler" thats possible to build. I have decided to do just that, but in full hull.

Do we have any pictures or plans of these Auxilary fuel oilers from IJN? I cant seem to find any. They are quite small ships, so probably not much of interest as such, which is why I wanna build one. ANy help appreciated.

It shows No. 3998 (??????????????), taken on November 1947 at Nagaura.

Unfortunately the museum adds a watermark to each picture they put online. I don't have one without a watermark, perhaps someone else has.

This is useful - as in a sense that this thing actually existed. 500t is what I gathered was the tonnage. A tiny thing.

So I have built this. Any one could help me with deck fittings that could be added (to make this thing an "oiler"?). As you see I have thus far added some pipe on deck (brass) to replace what was there in plastic, I added one wench on stern (?) and I did drill some small hawse pipes but focsle is bare and needs something on it.. Hollowed out funnel, added some "windows" and "doors" on bare super structures.. Otherwise Im all in for ideas how to spruce it up.

If you enlarge the original photo that Berend linked, you can see one large horizontal pipe aft of the bridge structure that stops almost halfway across the raised decking. There seems to be a refueling hose hookup point at its end. I also see a large gooseneck intake, and a couple of other bits.

I dont see anything of what you described!
I did find this detailing set though. Does that show anything to what you describe?

Well, there are some things in the set that can be used, but little of what I'm referring to.

See if this pic helps. The rightmost arrow points to one of those standing hatch/doorway type covers and opening, I believe.

I got this far. Next Im contemplating copying these ideas shown above.

I did a crude editing on my model - does this look accurate to what is on that pic, best we can tell?

So in red are those little fossets in pairs, I see 4-6 of them?
Orange - the large goosneck - this isnt a an air intake? If not, then I assume it should match that pipe you see on the deck?

I recall seeing a picture of an oiler that on deck had a lot of hoses that probably connected to the the ship and made a long pipe to fuel the ship. Is that the case here? Did it really connect to this one crude gooseneck intake?

I'm building Fujimi sado Maru. Beside you need a lot of filler it is an nice kit.
I have just two question, When I see the instructions right there wars a crane boom in front of the bridge. I drawed it on my pic.
If this is correct where would the pulleys attatched for the hight regulation?
And I think I read here the winches are missing for it.

Another question I also have the new PE set from Toms for the kit. I would like to add the raised boarding ladder.
If so what is part 12C and where to add it?

I'm actually not sure what that part is. I think it's the rack that holds the ladder when stowed, by wrapping those fingers under and above it. Or at least sticking out at 90*.

Yes and no. This picture shows the engine skylight forward of the funnel. I have another picture from a diving website showing it aft of the funnel. The picture shows the ship at a sharp angle, kind of hard to see it very clearly though. I looked on the Imperial Navy Page showing the ship itself, and I�m kind of leaning towards the aft of the funnel, judging by the funnel, that is of the skylight. I know there are a couple of new books on Truk Lagoon that got released recently. Maybe they might have some new photos showing what I�m looking for? Thank you Mike. I appreciate your help.
