in your image of the two launches hanging the boat boom-
-the round bilge design is well reflected in the considerable angles of roll
in the seemingly not huge swell... !
I can only admire the elegance of the lines of the steam launch-- I have similar looking boats on my 1/350 Bouvet
along with some sailing gigs-- did Bretagne carry sailing Gigs? ( pardon old fuzzy photo)

The steamers carried impressive awnings and sprayhoods
the heat from the boiler under teh awning must have been considerable
The whalers are also very attractive with the handsome sheerlines...
