Flyhawk 1/700 SMS Emden

is the first mention I've seen of a wartime 1/700 Tashkent from Trumpeter.
Much more to my liking than the initial 1940 release.

Definitely agree; Tashkent is a beautiful ship but she looks strange with the initially reduced main battery. Glad we didn't have to wait long for the 1942 release.
In any case, fingers crossed that some dedicated PE sets for her will come out in the near future.

They do have plans for one (there was a CAD rendering of an HMAS Sydney model back from 2019), but given Flyhawk's unpredictable release schedule there is no indication of when we may see this kit :(

I think mikasa was refering to the Town class light cruiser HMAS Sidney (1912-1928) who defeated SMS Emden before North Keeling Island on 11/09/1914 and NOT the Leander class light cruiser HMAS Sydney (1934-1941) who sank and was sunk by Kormoran 27 years later.

I think not. The Sydney which Flyhawk has shown as upcoming since 2019 (see page one of this thread) is clearly the WWII vessel.

I was hoping for the WW1 cruiser that sank Emden. I did not know they announced the WW2 version.

But yes their releases are unpredictable. I'm still waiting for Moltke.

Any new releases from FlyHawk are always more than welcome but, as already mentioned, they always seem to be unpredictable and I just wish they'd move a little more quickly to producing HMS Vanguard.

Still, with the Emden release, following quickly on the heels of the Iron Duke, FlyHawk seem to be assembling the start of an interesting array of WWI vessels i.e. Agincourt, Invincible, their earlier Derfflingers plus torpedo boat, as well as the Kajita Kongo class vessels.

I wonder if this might be the area they now concentrate on, as WWII subjects are becoming more covered by a number of manufacturers, whilst WWI still leaves plenty of scope for their talents ??

Hmm, I thought I came across an information about Trumpeter's 1/700 Langley, following their 1/350 version, but I wasn't sure about it.
Hopefully it won't take much time to hit the stores as it took for their 1/700 Belfast.

I had an odd thought. Wouldn't it be nice if Flyhawk would come out with a MN destroyer Mousquet to pair
with the Emden like when they brought out the G-39
