I think Flyhawk would do fabulous renderings of French vessels; I really wish they would and I'm salivating at thought of a Dunkerque, or a Strasbourg from their stable.

I also fervently wish they would release HMS Eagle in her 1942 guise; after all they have produced the Hermes, so this would be a more than logical continuation.

I'm probably totally wrong with this, but I can't escape the impression that Flyhawk's design team are total warship nerds and enjoy the release of subjects that they themselves find beguiling.
Trumpeter, as an example, always strike me as being more hard headed, business wise, doing careful market appreciation before deciding upon a new project, whereas Flyhawk are just out-and-out modellers and this is reflected in the supreme, almost crazy, level of detail they incorporate into their work.

This would, perhaps, explain the apparently haphazard choice and lack of logic of their releases although, as I said before, I'm probably totally wrong on this score - what do I know anyway ?? ........... 'Scio me nescire'

The good news is that according to Flyhawk's catalogue, they have a La Galissonni�re-class and Duguay-Trouin-class cruiser in the works Perhaps they will also do an Algerie somewhere down the line?

I also suspect that Trumpeter will downscale the HB 1/350 Dunkerque-class kits in the near future, considering that they recently did the same with the Alaskas.

Mostly in agreement regarding Flyhawk's methods and choices - with the notable exceptions of them producing yet another Hood and Bismarck. Sure, quite possible that their team simply has a geeky passion for those two ships as well, but to me that just screams of grabbing the low-hanging fruit of mass market appeal. (And even if it is, I'm not angry about it. Income from the ever-popular favorites allows for the niche subjects to be pursued)

But for Trumpeter... if anyone's choices for release warrant the word "haphazard", it's them! CVE Sangamon? Pre-dreads of any stripe? Russian one-off tanks - in multiple boxings? Me-509? Now, I'm pleased as punch to get many of these, but you can't convince me that these are the result of careful market research determining Trumpeter's choice in releases!

So... yeah... and here's to hoping for a Trumpeter 1:350 CV-7 USS Wasp, designed by the team that did the Langley and not the team that did the Sangamon! We got a surprise Ranger out of them after all.

Excellent question. You are far from the only one desiring such a fit.

I can't speak to Fine Molds thinking, other than air and armor have always been their primary focus. Still, the fact that they are now rolling out several sisters suggests they are looking to maximize return on their investment, finally. If that's true, then making a pre-war turret (Type B), and a few other period pieces (like voice tubes) would certainly help further that goal without much effort.

Taken a step further, Type A turrets would give them a Uranami with very little additional work, aside from some bridge tweaks. And then, they would also have a good foundation for some standard Type I sisters.

I suppose this is also an opportunity for some aftermarket suppliers.
