Looks like Midway, as commissioned.DavidP wrote:what time period of Midway Class carrier?
Guys - this topic isn't about what you want or don't want to see. It's about what IS being released. Please refrain from the constant b*tching and moaning because your preferred release hasn't transpired. It just makes the thread grow more unmanageable.

these are just leaks from an old Twitter it's a 1/350 scale model of Takao. found by accident on another forum
from what they show in the pictures, there are even injection molds

Will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the upcoming VEE hobby Cleveland. Perhaps Very Fire will start downscaling more of their kits into 700?Chargerman wrote:Coming soon from Very Fire USS Cleveland in 1/700 scale.

It would be an odd choice if so. The Aoshima retake kits of the Takaos are pretty good. Plenty of other good choices.

hrmmmm I checked the twitter link Yamamoto posted; call me crazy but the two photos of tooling do not look like Takao class bits. The hull bottom frankly looks to be much too wide to be anything but a battleship and the one of hull sides don't look like the profile of the Takao class.....or I am crazy and I just messed up?Dan K wrote:It would be an odd choice if so. The clue is "kits" in the tweet. The four photos show two different kits: the moulds show a Yamato, and you can see the top right is for two halves of the hull (you can see the famous "dip" in the main deck and the bulbous bow).Heavy Melder wrote:hrmmmm I checked the twitter link Yamamoto posted; call me crazy but the two photos of tooling do not look like Takao class bits. You're right about that, Timmy. But, a 1/350 Yamato from VF would be even more puzzling. It's hard to believe VF could bring more to bear than what Tamiya has already done.

Not for a final-fit Yamato, no... but seeing as how Tamiya never followed up their new-mold Yamato with an early fit or a Musashi (and there are definite signs in the engineering of that kit to indicate they'd planned for it), I think it could be a pretty good move for Very Fire. Offer a good new mold to replace the old Tamiya final-fit Musashi, and offer an as-commissioned Yamato/Musashi, with a price point likely higher than Tamiya's re-popped old-mold kits but notably lower than the new mold one... this could really work well for them.Dan K wrote:You're right about that, Timmy. Since I'm not a Yamatoholic, I was unaware of the unavailability of those alternative fits. Still, I have my doubts about it being a lucrative offering.
Though, I suppose if the kit offered many of those fit options within the same kit, then I can see the attraction. Plus, the hull for a possible Shinano would become available. VF already has late war IJN aircraft, and a ton of IJN equipment sets already molded to that end.

Re: *Inj. molded plastic* Upcoming Ship Kit Releases
Has anyone any idea what might be happening to Trumpeter's 1/700 HMS York ??
I was initially under the impression it was due to be released in the early part of this year, then the date was deferred to June and now it might only be seen in December. Paradoxically, all this tine it's been shown on the Trumpeter website, as though it were available.
It's most frustrating

One German hobby shop has it listed as a Sept 26 release date. Guess we will see.

York was listed as release month 07.2023, so with delivery times could expect it to get to the suppliers this month
I'm also lookung forward to seeing it
