Yup, still got the Heller kit, languishing unattended I'm afraid. Built up and modded as per the Trumper kit, i.e as with Exocets.

I do wonder that, having built the Airfix 1/600 years ago. I wonder if Trumpeter announced the kit to put off a certain rival, who I know had occasioned research to be done.

Announcement by AFV Club in 1/700:

Spanish Santa Mara class/Australian Adelaide class frigate

Kit containing parts for both version. In case of the Australian version, it is possible to built them with VLS Mk 41 (as they are still in service with the Chilean navy).

The drawing and the Santa Mara were shown at the SMC in Veldhoven:

Thats a follow on to their Oliver Hazard Perry class, I take it. Very nice.

That is apparently a Trumpeter strategy (from what I've been told). Announce a release so others won't do it, even if Trumpeter actually never plans to do it. This leaves no competition for them, if they change their mind.

It is also apparent that I'm going to need to re-post this every couple of pages: A reminder that this topic isn't about what you want or don't want to see. It's about what IS being released. Please refrain from the constant b*tching and moaning because your preferred release, in your preferred scale, hasn't transpired. It just makes the thread grow more unmanageable.

Also, please take a moment to look before posting - we end up with repeated mentions of the same release because folks didn't take 30 seconds to look if said new release announcement was already there.

My Trumpeter 1/700 HMS York (finally) arrived today.

Upon a (very)cursory initial examination, it looks quite decent and a nice complement to HMS Exeter.

Heaven only knows when I'm going to get a chance to start building it

What the latest in Flyhawk - any more iterations to existing kits of Scharnhorst/ Bismarck, PoW - ie Tirpitz, DoY, Gneisenau late fit, etc? Anyone following them or it seems like they gone a bit silent lately?

Something that seems to have slipped through the radar and cracks. I can't seem to find anything about it using the forum's search bar..

Hobbyboss has done a new 1:700 Titanic: http://www.hobbyboss.com/index.php?g=ho ... =1778&l=en

I know, there's loads of them already, but this one looks to be a proper kit with nicely moulded decks, a seriously crisp hull and small fret of PE parts, namely the grates for the stacks and the compass tower. A much better option for the modeller over the current offerings? Revell's is a bit dodgy and the Academy one that's been rehashed umpteen times looks woeful. Meng's is a toy.

No waterline option, which is unfortunate.

Something to note is the upper superstructure is separate to the hull, so judging by HobbyBoss' 350th releases - namely the Alaska class BCs, Dantons and recent Iowas - I'm assuming an Olympic and Britannic will follow suit... happy days.

Has anyone yet come across Trumpeter's new 1/700 Missouri and Iowa releases ??

I'm just wondering what the detail and overall quality is like and how they compare with other options available, even older ones from Academy and Tamiya.
Their pricing seems very 'competitive' and they seem even less expensive than Trumpeter's own recent releases i.e Exeter, York, Colombo and Calcutta, which are far smaller models in themselves.

On this basis, I'm just wondering if these are indeed excellent value for money, or just cheap and nasty ??

With regard to Flyhawk's relative inactivity of late, I just wonder if the Company is working hard on HMS Vanguard and making her the most perfect model ever released ??!! :please: :please:

........ mmmm, I must admit I do fear I'll have gone to the great scrapyard in the sky, before this ever comes about.

the got the bridge, the foremast and pelion gallery on B turret of pre-1945 Iowa right. but all the other details like number and placement of Oerlikon directors were right for the Missouri, but wrong for the Iowa.

Thank you gents for those last two posts; they're much appreciated.

For quite a few years now, I've only been buying RN (WWII) subjects, but I think I might just treat myself to the Missouri, even though I've got the Tamiya Iowa in my stash, still awaiting building.
It'll be an interesting comparison.

Thanks again.

You still have options in the form of the Very Fire and Vee Hobby kits.
