Differenct coloured sprue

Dear All,
I have been trying recently to get some different coloured sprues for use in rigging, more specifically some of the sandy brown coloured stuff. I remember this being a very common colour for airfix kits, but after going to the extent of buying a Panzer IV kit it turned out that they now make them in a nasty orange colour.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a cheap kit made in this colour, or perhaps any such coloured sprue lying around?

I am not sure but maybe some of the airfix 1 72 Soldiers are in this colour

I'm sure I have plenty of sprue in this colour - I'll have a look tomorrow.
I have a number of 1/72 Airfix and 1/35 Tamiya military kits with sprues in this sort of sandy brown-yellow colour. Let me know how much sprue you want and I'll send you what I can find.

Airfix 1/72 soldiers would probably not be usable as these are (certainly they were, not sure if they still are) moulded in a polythene-type plastic which is softer and more flexible than styrene, and probably doesn't make very good stretched rigging.

Mike--as an ardent multicoloured sprue rigger...

Airfix classic ships Mayflower ( e-bay)

Revell sailing ships 1/96 and smaller are also good.

Ask Mr Pinningr to send you a spare bit of Thermoplya/Cutty sark deck fitting...( ) its the same stuff as I use for signal halyards... pulls quite well into very light sandy brown...

Thanks chaps, Epinniger - I don't need very much something like four runs would probably last a lifetime!

Jim - do you mean the little ships Airfix make or the larger ones, afraid I'm not sure of the scale of any of them.

I'm hopefully shortly going to be rigging HMS Tiger as in 1929 fitting.

I think Jim Baumann means the larger Airfix sailing ships, not the smaller ones (the small "Series 0" ships are almost always moulded in white). The sprues for these are a medium brown colour. I have quite a lot left over from my HMS Victory (I saved it as I thought the hexagonal cross-section might make it handy for scratchbuilding), so will send you a few lengths of this sprue as well.

You might also check with some of your armor modeling friends - lots of armor kits come in that tan/sand color plastic.
