Very impressive work, Song. Those funnel caps are very challenging in shape.

That's true. Those funnel caps are very complicated shapes.
I've made some detail works of funnels.

Wood

Post by JerryTodd »

What wood are you using?
Some looks like white pine, some like bass/lime.
감사합니다

It's gingko, mentioned previously - also used for detailed woodwork in home interiors in the past.

I used Ginko. It grows in the east Asia.
It is soft wood.

Marvelous work Song, truly amazing how you are crafting it from wood. I had thought of working on a model of one of the IJN battleships but will wait until I work on other classes first. The Kongo Class was truly a well designed and well used fleet unit for the IJN. Your work is really fun to watch unfold hope you continue to find success as you go.

thanks for sharing the pictures.

Dear Chris!
Thank you for your attentions of my wood model work. It is very difficult to built IJN warships by scratch.
You knows well about Kongo class battleships and it's history.
I've done aft mast of Kongo as weel as derrick and some riggings.

very nice work indeed. You got some excellent skills! the Kongo Class were truly magnificent ships, esp nice to see them working together as in the Indian Ocean Cruise. Good fortune on your continuing work!

Image

Hiei, Kirishima, Haruna, and Kongo in an angled line ahead battle formation, allowed all of the ships to have a good arc of fire while keeping the units in good self defense formation. Shows an excellent level of seamanship among all of the crews.
