Re: Calling all Russian submarine fans
For what it's worth, I have the Polar Bear SIERRA II and it is a little squat. Deepstorm says 12.2m for S1 and 12.28 for S2 for beam.

The Sierra II has, as with many Russian submarines, a double hull, and the limber holes along the side would indicate a saddle-like double hull. You can see the Sierra II flattened deck structure, along with the modified sail (form the Sierra I) in these photos.

My previous post from Saturday seems to have disappeared:
Anyone seen the new Norman Polmar book, Submarines of the Russian and Soviet Navies: 1946–2026

Re: Calling all Russian submarine fans
I see Norman Polmar has a new book out, Submarines of the Russian and Soviet Navies: 1946–2026. Must admit I like Polmar's writing much better, I feel Norman Friedman's books are poorly laid out and "walls of text" at times. Don't get me wrong, It's a nitpick, but I'm happy to see a new Polmar book. Anyone familiar with this new one?

The site was down for a bit for an upgrade, so you post didn't make it through to the current active server. I found it on the old one and moved it here.Woodstock74 wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2026 7:00 pm My previous post from Saturday seems to have disappeared:
