How to make a CA Glue applicator...

Hi guys

here is a step by step guide on how to make a Superglue applicator--text is in german but the pictures are self explanatory!

What's the purpose of the little "fork" anyway? I've seen other designs like that before.. and how does one keep it unclogged?

I just use a bit of wire, when it goes all gunky I trim the end off.

the purpose of the forky bit is to allow the applicator to retain a single small droplet(pending size of needle!!!) to be held via capillary action

To clean it simply pass the fork thru a candle/lighter flame...

It does work--but then I personally apply my CA using the edeg of a stanley knife blade!!-still--I can see applications for the one I made tihs evening!!

Interesting tool indeed. I use normally a paper clip (depending of the size of the part and the ammount of glue to be used) or streched sprue or even rod brass. Until now works out fine and when glue keeps forming on the tool either I cut it or remove it with a sharpe blade.

I normally use a straightened paper clip

being a gaget freak i may just create a cork and needle applicator:)

Thanks Jim.

Now I have an excuse to drink that $5.00 a bottle of wine/vinager [housewarming present] collecting dust above the fridge. You know, for shipbuilding purposes. I'll bet it's especially handy for the thinner varieties of CA glues, which seem to take on a life of their own whenever I use them.

I have made a set of these and use them occasionally, but my favorite is the pointed ends of sprue left over from stretching. They can be made as fine and as long as necessary to reach difficult places.

I usually use toothpicks for CA application. However, that applicator looks quite interesting, might consider building it.
