Good model shop in Central London?

Post by Anonymous »

I'm new to London and wonder if anyone knows a good hobby shop here?

I just want to buy a couple of paint brushes and some paint - not fussed about the brand. I bought a Fearless on ebay just to build up for fun - all my serious modelling stuff is at home in my home country.

But I might be here for a few years so it can't hurt to know a good shop or two.

thanks!

Hi richard, You can find a good hobby shop near Holborn station. If your coming up from Oxford street just walk towards Holborn and the old Beatties shop is on your right.from Holborn cross the road towards Sainsbury's and keep walking for about 50 yards and you will see it. it has a new name I cannot remember now as I have been working here in Warsaw,Poland for a year now.Good shop though with lots of gooodies.

Hi Richard,

You can also try Hannants. It is right outside Colindale tube station on the Northern Line. If you need references, check out Motor Books in St Martin's Court, just off Charing Cross road. Nearest tube is Leicester Square.

If you don't mind the train journey, you are about 45mins - 1 hour from Victoria to Dorking. Dorking Model shop is one of the best I have ever been to.

PM me if you need more help with London.

It used to be Beatties, now it's ModelZone.

There's also a shop that stocks all sorts of old, rare and limited run models, it's next door to (and connected with) Comet Miniatures in Battersea (not central London, but not far). Here's a link to Comet's 'contact' page: http://www.comet-miniatures.com/contact.php?
